F/A-18 Hornet: 77SQN says farewell

After 33 years of operation, 77 Squadron will retire their Classic Hornets on Friday 11 December.
To mark the occasion, one aircraft, A21- 39, has been painted in a special ‘end of era’ scheme.
Displayed at its best during aerobatic manoeuvres, the scheme features the squadron’s ‘grumpy monkey’ insignia and refers to the unit’s historic aircraft types.

This A3-size lithographic print features in A21-39 in this scheme with a typical operational load. A21-39 still carries the mission tally markings from its deployment to the MEAO.

In 2021 the squadron will begin operating the new F-35A Lightning II.
